Our analysis of Nomad

Good prices, and an entirely local catalogue

Nomad eSIM runs at $0.24/GB, below the sector median, with 1,255 plans across 187 destinations. Its cheapest starts at $2.

What stands out is the shape of the catalogue: all 1,255 plans are single-country. Not one regional, not one global. It's the only provider of the 18 with that split — and it isn't coincidence, it's the consequence of a decision on our side worth explaining.

Outside the catalogue, Nomad has over 1,600 Trustpilot reviews at around 4.3 out of 5. It's one of the better-documented providers in this batch, which makes the average more trustworthy.

Why we discard 145 of its plans

Nomad does sell regional and global plans — "Regional APAC", "Americas", "Regional Europe" — but its feed doesn't publish which countries each one covers. Only the name.

We could have attached them to every country in that region. We don't: one provider's "Europe" is 35 countries and another's is 27, and recommending a plan in a destination where it doesn't work is the worst mistake a comparison site can make.

So those 145 plans get dropped. They exist and you can buy them on their site; we just don't list them because we can't say with certainty where they work. Same rule we apply to Airalo.

A recent flag about Japan

Public reviews from May 2026 show an unusual cluster of complaints about Japan specifically: activation problems, and support replies that took days despite a stated 24-hour target.

We can't verify that from our data — the feed says what's sold, not whether it works on landing — and a spike in complaints can be an incident already resolved. But if you're heading to Japan and Nomad is your pick, it's worth knowing, and worth not leaving installation until the airport.

Across the rest of its catalogue the rating holds up. Its unlimited plans, 242 of 1,255, start at $1.10 a day: the upper half of the sector. Neither tethering nor 5G appears in its feed.
