Why data is so cheap here
Thailand has by some distance the lowest price per gigabyte in our entire catalogue. The reason is competition: AIS, True and dtac have fought over tourist traffic for years, and that pushes down the travel eSIMs riding on those networks too.
It doesn't follow that the biggest bundle is the best buy. A 50 GB plan over 30 days has a superb price per GB, but almost nobody uses 50 GB in a two-week holiday. The calculator below the table works from the days you're actually travelling instead of the best theoretical number.

Networks and coverage
Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket are densely covered, 5G included. AIS reaches furthest to the islands and north towards Pai and Mae Hong Son.
Ferry crossings are the exception: signal disappears in open water between Surat Thani and Koh Tao, and again on the way to Koh Lipe. It returns on the islands themselves, but inland on Koh Chang and on the trails in Khao Sok it stays patchy.

How much data
Two weeks of travel with Grab, maps, a translator and photos: 5 GB is enough. Uploading video or working on the road pushes it to 10 GB. Wi-Fi in Thai hostels and cafés is good and widespread — unlike several neighbouring countries, you can genuinely offload a lot onto it.

One plan across several countries
If you're combining Thailand with Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos, a Southeast Asia package usually beats three separate country plans, and you don't have to switch anything mid-trip. For Thailand alone the country plan wins clearly. Both are in the table above.
Practical notes
Install the eSIM at home before flying. Suvarnabhumi arrivals is lined with SIM card stands charging well above anything in the table above — they're selling convenience, not the best price.
