Our analysis of Maya

Eight plans, and that's the whole catalogue

Maya Mobile publishes exactly eight plans in our catalogue. Eight. The next smallest provider has 718.

They're global unlimited plans of 3, 7, 14 and 30 days, in standard and cruise-coverage versions. Each covers 175 destinations.

That minimal catalogue is a decision, not a gap: they've chosen to sell one well-defined product instead of thousands of combinations. Its public reputation rests on exactly that — the simplicity of the unlimited plan.

5 GB a day before throttling

All eight plans give 5 GB daily at full speed, then drop to 3 Mbps. Maya publishes this in its feed, in those exact words.

It's the most generous allowance any provider in our catalogue declares. Roamix, with 11,982 unlimited plans, ranges from 300 MB to 10 GB a day depending on the plan, and most sit around 500 MB.

That figure changes the comparison. A plan at €1.45/day with 5 GB daily gives ten times the data of one at €1.18 with 500 MB. Sorting by daily price alone would reward the second, which is the worse buy for almost any trip.

Expensive per day, and until recently no app

$1.67 a day is the upper end of our catalogue: mySIM24 is at $0.55 and Roamix at $0.56. But those two give half a gigabyte a day and Maya gives five — light users win with the cheap ones, heavy users flip the maths entirely.

For a long time Maya ran without an app: you bought on the website, received a QR code and scanned it. That meant no data counter and no warning when you ran low. In 2026 they launched their own app covering that gap, though it's recent and has little documented track record.

What it doesn't have is local coverage. All eight plans are global, so in any single destination there's almost always a cheaper country plan. Its ground is multi-country trips, cruises and long itineraries.
